Licensed Massage Therapist

LMT OR # 24231

I have been a massage therapist for 15 years and love what I do! I graduated from the University of Westminster in London with a journalism degree, but my chosen career didn't fulfill my desire to improve the lives of others. I wanted to make a real difference. Through my interest in health and sports, I explored sports therapy and nutrition, and eventually signed up for massage school. I haven't looked back!

My passion for a specialty in headaches stems from personal experience. Throughout my 20s, I suffered from horrendous migraines. A gradually worsening headache would have me out of action for up to five days – it was debilitating, hard to explain at work, and just made my life miserable. Once I started my massage career, I saw many clients with migraines and had great success with them. I very quickly realized just how helpful the right kind of massage can be. Using specific techniques like myofascial release and trigger points, I am able to give my headache clients some much-needed relief!

I received my holistic massage certification in 2005, and then in 2008 graduated as a sports massage therapist from the Oxford School of Sports Massage and set up my own practice. After a few years, I followed that up with training in medical conditions and the treatment of more complex chronic pain, and graduated as an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist from the Jing Institute in 2014. This was my introduction to integrative massage – what a game changer it was! I learned how a specific and completely personalized blend of massage techniques produces results far greater than the sum of its parts. This integrative approach is now the cornerstone of my own massage practice.

My professional development has continued at schools including the East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, and I add to my skills every year. I am also trained in cupping therapy, myofascial release for headaches, orthopedic assessment, trigger point therapy, and assisted stretching.

When I'm not working, you'll find me exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my husband, son, and our labradoodle. I love hiking, kayaking, and skiing, though most often I'm in my running gear! I frequently race 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons on roads and trails, and I have run two full marathons (my third coming up in 2020!). I'm also a USATF and RRCA certified running coach, and I volunteer in the Sherwood High School cross country and track program.
